Andrew and Katie had just met each other, and as a dabbling match-maker, I couldn’t help but sense the potential! We had pulled together a group of friends to visit Trader Joes, and I was keeping a close eye on the two of them. Sure enough, before we had even checked out of the beloved grocery store, Andrew snuck up to me and asked if Katie was single.
The rest is quick and beautiful history. I have had the privilege of documenting their love story from the start, from dating days, to the grand proposal, from their engagement photos, to their wedding. They are probably my most photographed couple! And I can’t complain because THEY ARE STUNNING. March 25th drew nearer as we waited like impatient kids for Christmas. There had been months of preparation and prayer, and we were ready to see all of the hard work come to fruition! When the morning finally arrived, I could almost taste the joy in the air. Today was the day! I arrived at The Lodge before sunrise and got to work. Make up was applied, hair was arranged, and the dresses were donned. As soon as Katie stepped into the living room wearing her jaw-dropping dress, everything became VERY real! Before we knew it, it was time to drive to the church.
My favorite part of the day was about to happen. Andrew was overflowing with excitement and jitters, and as I put him in place for the first look, I just knew this was going to be one for the history books! He turned around and the tears started flowing. Who can blame him? She was a VISION. They walked around, laughed, kissed, and shared their excitement for the approaching ceremony. Soon the wedding party joined them, bringing along LOADS of laughter and silliness! It barely felt like work with so many friends to photograph! Time flew by and the ceremony arrived. Over a hundred loved ones had gathered, along with Andrew and Katie’s best friends who stood beside them. Everyone laughed, many cried. God had been good, had answered our prayers, and had brought Andrew and Katie together!
Soon enough, the coffee and donut reception began and was comprised mainly of mixing and mingling. The cake was cut, the bouquet tossed, and hugs were shared all around! By 1:00 PM it was time for the bubble exit. As Katie and Andrew strolled their way through the sparkling haze, hopped in the getaway car and drove away to their new life, I couldn’t help but be overcome by emotion. If there was THIS much joy in a wedding between God’s children, how much MORE delightful will the REAL wedding be for Christ and His Church!!! I can’t wait, and I’m sure after their own wedding, Andrew and Katie can’t wait either. 🙂
