Both were students at Biola University in California, where their fun personalities and mutual love for reading sparked a romance that would also be a rollercoaster ride! Time and time again one of them would make up their mind to be with the other, only to face refusal. But the Lord had some pretty permanent plans in mind for these two! After months of back and forth, their hearts finally aligned. Soon enough there was a ring was on Ellie’s finger and I was contacted to fly out to California!!!
You can probably imagine just how excited I was!! I arrived in the San Fransisco area on Saturday evening to be picked up by Annie (Ellie’s sister) and her boyfriend Kevin. The drive to my hotel was breath-taking! As a once missionary-kid in the country of Mongolia, I have desperately missed the landscape of rolling hills and golden mountains. You better believe I drank in every beautiful sight. ❤️ We arrived at the hotel to discover that Ellie had accidentally booked my room under the name “Naomi Watts”! I laughed SO hard. 😂😂😂 I told the receptionist how sorry I was to not be the REAL Naomi Watts. 😉
Saturday passed and Sunday arrived! I got to Ellie’s house and was met by the kindest family (and cutest puppy!) I could have hoped to encounter! The air was already filled with the giggling of bridesmaids and the joyful anticipation of an 11:00 AM ceremony. The time for the First Look came, and when Kyle laid eyes on Ellie, it was pure MAGIC!! Before we knew it we were off to Shadelands Ranch. The guests arrived, the music played, and Ellie floated down the aisle on the arm of her father. At long last the vows were exchanged and the crowd cheered as Kyle kissed his bride. THEY WERE MARRIED! It was time to get the PARTY started!
The reception was filled with fun activities and delicious breakfast food. From a puzzle table on one side of the lawn, to playing the shoe game on the dance floor, the afternoon flew by on laughter and mimosas. The sun was blaring down but that didn’t stop friends and family from dancing their hearts out!! When the time came for the send-off, lavender buds were gathered and tossed high into the air over the departing newly-weds. Leftovers were gathered, chairs were stacked, hugs were given, and the wedding was officially drawn to a close. After one more night in downtown Pleasant Hill, I packed my bags and flew home to Florida, filled to the brim with new memories, friends, and reasons to smile. ❤️
I am SO blessed to have a job that not only let’s me travel, but also gives me the opportunity to meet beautiful and kind people from all around the world. That’s why I will always value intimacy and joy over any other wedding element!! You just can’t replace the love of friends and family. So here is Ellie and Kyle’s wedding day story. I hope it brings you just a little bit of the joy it has brought me. 😊
