If you can’t tell, I’m a big fan of reading. One of the things I miss most about my childhood are the summer days filled with heart-racing adventures, soul-crushing tragedy, and barely achieved victories, all safely confined within the pages of a book. Being an adult doesn’t really aid in this pastime, especially when my days are now filled with dishes to clean, bills to pay, and a business to run. I sure do miss those hazy, lazy, summer days…
Which brings me to July’s creation. Every month I schedule a “just for fun” photo shoot, both for my portfolio and my sanity. This time around I found myself inspired by the idea of curling up with a good book on a quiet afternoon, something I like to call, “The Art of Cozy.” Although the word “cozy” means different things to different people, for me it means putting away the electronic distractions, grabbing a blanket, and getting lost in a page-turning adventure. I call it an “art” because it is easier said than done! Phones buzz, TVs blare, and there always seems to be something “better” to do with your time. Cozy is an art my friends, a true art.
So once I knew what I was aiming for, I booked my model (the gorgeous Julianna Andracchio) and reached out to what I considered to be the perfect location for this shoot. I knew even before the concept was fully formed that Hillcrest Coffee was the place for me! This coffee shop is my definition of cozy. A homey atmosphere, a friendly owner, live music and hushed conversations are just some of the elements that make this place my favorite spot in town. It is basically your home with better coffee. 😉
I hope you enjoy this little homage to reading books, cuddling in blankets, and sipping coffee. In a high-speed world, there is magic to be found on a page filled with ink and intrigue! Don’t ever lose your cozy. =)
Special thanks to Hillcrest Coffee! Go visit if you know what’s what.
