It is always a beautiful thing to witness a love story built on waiting patiently. Stephanie had made the choice at a young age to not begin dating until she was ready to marry the one God had for her, and on her wedding day it was easy to see just how much God had blessed that decision! When Joey entered her life, it became pretty clear pretty quickly that this guy was IT. Although I had known Stephanie since I first moved to Lakeland, getting to meet Joey and see the two of them together was an experience I will never forget! Their engagement session was pure joy from start to finish, and I remember being very pleased with her choice in a husband. Joey had definitely been worth the wait!
The day of Stephanie and Joey’s wedding arrived and with it came rain rain RAIN. We had all been praying anxiously for God to clear away the clouds, but sometimes He decides that romantic drizzles are better than sunny haze, and who am I to complain? It turned out to be magical beyond belief, yet again a wonderful reminder that God ALWAYS knows best. We got Stephanie all ready at her parent’s house, where every detail was heart-warming and tear-jerking! From the first look with her Dad, to the promise ring tied around her bouquet. Then it was time to head to Hollis Gardens to see Joey!
The rain was definitely coming down when we arrived, but we had umbrellas and an adventurous spirit that could not be stopped! We tiptoed into Hollis Gardens, which had emptied due to the bad weather. Talk about ANOTHER unexpected blessing! The rain had given these two absolute privacy for their First Look (You’re so good, God)! Hugs and laughter ensued, as we were joined shortly by the wedding party, and then it was time to get inside the Magnolia Building for the ceremony!
Guests arrived and sat reception style at their tables as the mothers were escorted down the aisle. Joey was all smiles as Stephanie rounded the corner with her father, and then it was vow time! After promising to remain faithful until death, the two exchanged rings and walked around the room to give roses to a few of the dearest women in their lives. Then Joey was told he could kiss his bride!!! After so much patient waiting, they were married at last!
As soon as the ceremony was over, we made our way outside to enjoy taking some just-married pictures. The rain let up just enough for us to meander through the rose garden, and let me tell you, I couldn’t have asked for more magical light! We then made our way back into the party, for a full evening of dinner, dancing, speeches, and delicious dessert (Stephanie even made her OWN wedding cake! Can you believe it?! This girl is TALENTED!). As the evening came to an end, the guests lined the exit and blew bubbles on the honeymoon-bound newly-weds. Another beautiful wedding over, another life-long adventure just beginning!
