I was definitely NOT prepared for just how beautiful Brooke and Blake’s wedding day would be! Brooke had reached out months beforehand to book me as her photographer, and I could hardly believe that my path hadn’t crossed with this gorgeous girl before! We spent the next months planning and prepping for their St. Augustine wedding. When I finally got to sit down with BOTH Brooke and Blake, they immediately struck me as joyful, a boat load of fun, and oh so so IN LOVE! I knew their day was going to be something else, but when August 25th, 2018 arrived, I was literally BLOWN AWAY!
The day began at Brooke’s house, which was a picturesque thing of beauty RIGHT across the street from their wedding venue! The home was filled with vintage details, wedding flowers, and lovely ladies all prepping for the big day. It was so sweet to see Brooke surrounded by her dearest friends and family, especially when she burst into tears after putting on her dress! Across the street at the venue, Blake was also getting ready, surrounded by the most important men in his life. Love notes and little gifts were traded between the two, and after a few moments of dabbing tears away, it was time for their First Look! Friends, I have never witnessed a SWEETER First Look. Blake was absolutely overcome, even BEFORE he laid eyes on Brooke! And no one could hold back the waterworks when he finally got to turn around and see his beloved. Brooke and Blake cried and held each other close beneath the archways of the Lightner Museum, and then we strolled around and took some portraits as they giggled like a couple of kids! Soon enough the wedding party joined us, and then it was time to get ready for the ceremony.
The Lightner Museum is amazing. Seriously! This 100+ year old beauty used to be a hotel which boasted, at the time, the world’s largest indoor swimming pool! Wanna guess where Brooke and Blake got married? That’s right! Right where the pool used to be. Needless to say, as a photographer, I was over the moon! The guests arrived to a magical setting of stringed lights and historic elegance. As the ceremony began, Brooke made her way down the stairs and walked with both of her parents down the aisle. Vows were repeated, rings were exchanged, and the unity candle was lit. Then after a final prayer and first kiss, they were MARRIED AT LAST!!! I swept the newly weds away for some pictures, and they could NOT stop smiling! We meandered from the bridge in the courtyard to the beautiful alley right outside Brooke’s house, allowing them to enjoy their first few moments of being husband and wife.
Then it was time to party! The reception began with the introduction of the bridal party (and may I just say, they had MOVES!), then the couple shared their first dance, and Brooke’s father gave a heart-warming toast. After a delicious dinner came the cake cutting, more toasts, and the parent dances! I totally got misty-eyed every time Blake hugged his mama. Then the dance floor opened and the celebration began! The band was on point, the floor was OVERFLOWING, and the bouquet/garter tosses got just a little competitive! The evening slipped away as guests danced, hugged, laughed and sipped champagne. Then it was time to line up the guests outside with sparklers. In the few moments before their departure, Brooke and Blake swayed on the dance floor one last time to an empty hall. Then they made there way through the waving sparklers and set off to start their new life together!
As with every outrageously beautiful wedding, this one could not have happened without an incredible team! The day was planned and coordinated by the lovely Lindsay Ohlin at Coastal Celebrations, while all the STUNNING florals were provided by Tula Rose. The event itself was hosted by the Lightner Museum in St. Augustine, and was officiated by Lowell Lucas. Salon Identity styled hair for the day, The Bardot worked her makeup magic, Dessy Group provided the Bridesmaids’ dresses, and CC’s Bridal is responsible for that lacy, GORGEOUS thang that made Brooke look like a queen! Tuxes came from Jos. A. Bank, St. Johns Illuminations provided various lighting and decor, and Silkee Smoove brought the party to life with their soulful beats. The reception was catered by Moore Fine Foods, and the INCREDIBLE wedding cake was designed by Creme de la Cocoa. And finally, my photography team was made up of second-shooter extraordinaire, Arron McNeile, and my lovely assistant Katie Anderson.
And now, without further ado, please enjoy Brooke and Blake’s wedding day blog!
